  1. I just wanted to add some links that might be useful:

CA Dept of Boating and Waterways - Beach Restoration and Erosion Links

DBW is the main agency in CA for restoring eroded beaches and partner with USACE. They are authorized through the California Public Beach Restoration Act (PBRA) 1999.

    Coastal Sediment Management Workgroup

Within DBW is the Coastal Sediment Management Workgroup, and their page has a bunch of useful links.

    USACE - LA District

Here's a list of the USACE LA District active projects in San Diego:

    Interactive Map

San Diego County Shoreline Feasibility Study

    Oceanside Harbor

    Solana/Encinitas Beaches

San Diego River - Mission Bay (I think this is the project for beach fill at Mission Beach, and the OB jetty work going on right now)

San Diego Harbor(Or maybe this one handles the fill)

    Imperial Beach Silver Strand Shoreline

Fletcher Cove/City of Solana Beach not sure if this is still active.

    SANDAG Shoreline Management
SANDAG handles the regional sediment management in San Diego. Links to all the projects handled by SANDAG. Check out Regional Beach Sand Project II, which is just getting started.

    SANDAG Shoreline Preservation Working Group
SANDAG has a working group with bi-monthly public meetings to discuss regional sand projects.

  2. SANDAG Draft Coastal Regional Sediment Management Plan
This plan is the general strategy SANDAG has adopted to manage its shoreline. Note there is no mention of allowing the shoreline to move. The only strategies are sand replenishment and retention.

CalBeach Advocates comments to the SANDAG Draft Coastal Regional Sediment Management Plan

In these comments I outline several strategies that should be pursued by SANDAG and are not and some serious pitfalls with the draft plan.
